AI SITE CHECKER
How our AI discoverability score works
AI Site Checker is a free diagnostic tool for the foundations of AI discoverability. We fetch the public homepage, robots.txt and a small number of discovery files. We do not ask an AI model to rate your website, query AI answers or measure live search rankings.
What the score tells you
A score out of 100 summarises a fixed checklist. It is not a percentage chance of being mentioned, a search-engine metric or proof that a crawler can reach your site from its own network. Each report shows every check, its points, observed evidence and suggested action. Methodology version 1.0 is saved with the report.
The report is a snapshot. Websites, crawler policies and AI products change. We cache checks for up to six hours to reduce load on websites. Reports show when the underlying check ran.
What we inspect
- Access and indexing: HTTPS, homepage response, indexing directives and robots.txt rules for search crawlers.
- Content and identity: page title, description, headings, readable HTML and valid structured business information.
- Discovery: canonical URL and a reachable XML sitemap.
- Informational checks: training crawler rules and llms.txt. Neither training access nor llms.txt earns points.
The exact weights and points are displayed in each report. An unavailable or uncertain check is labelled unknown and earns no points; it does not prove your site is misconfigured. This conservative score can therefore be lower when our request is blocked. Address failed and unknown access checks before interpreting the rest.
What we cannot infer
Allowing a search crawler is only one prerequisite for discovery. It does not guarantee indexing, citation, favourable descriptions or recommendations. We do not run JavaScript, verify all pages, assess reputation across the web or validate every structured-data field. A firewall may treat our checker differently from Google, OpenAI or another crawler.
Blocking a training bot is a separate policy choice and is never scored negatively. llms.txt is an optional emerging convention, not an established ranking requirement. Google says no new AI-specific files or schema are needed for its AI search features.

- OpenAI: search, training and user-triggered crawlers
- Perplexity: crawler documentation
- Anthropic: web crawler controls
How to use the result
- Check whether we could access your site and read its robots rules.
- Review the highest-priority fixes with your developer or content team.
- Rerun the check after changes and after the six-hour cache expires.
- Validate actual AI visibility separately with representative prompts and recorded sources.
AI Site Checker is independent and is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or Perplexity.
